COMPANY HISTORY Harold
"Pete" Christiansen started his construction company in 1942 with a Model A
pickup, some hand tools and a cement mixer. Most of the projects at that
time consisted of brick and block work. Christiansen Construction
built many of the buildings used yet today by Pender businesses and
throughout Northeast Nebraska.
In 1953, Kenneth Christiansen
joined the firm and the new business was called Christiansen & Son. Another
son, Densil, joined the company in 1955 and further expansion continued with
projects being completed in Iowa and South Dakota. In 1961 a third son,
Norman, joined the growing business and the construction of the current
office building was completed. Harold "Pete" Christiansen died in 1968.
Kenneth retired from the
business in 1982 with Densil and Norman continuing their ownership until
1986. Tim, Mike and Greg Christiansen became the owners at that time and the
company was called Christiansen Construction Co.
Christiansen Construction Co.
LLC is in its third generation of ownership, with the current owners being
Tim and Greg Christiansen, grandsons of the founder.
Norman retired in 2000, but
Densil continued to be very active in the business until his sudden death in
December 2001.
Christiansen Construction employs an average of 25-30 people, with the
supervisors exceeding 30 years of loyal service to the company. Many of the
employees have been employed for over 10 years.
